Get revved up for summer entertaining and capturing the season's bounty with Cathy Barrow, ace guide to the art of the rustic slab pie (sweet or savory friend to both parties and picnics!) and the mastermind behind a book The Atlantic called an "encyclopedic guide to preserving and canning." Cathy will be in conversation with local author Janet Reich Elsbach. Cathy Barrow is the author of Mrs. Wheelbarrow’s Practical Pantry (Norton, 2014), winner of the prestigious IACP Award for best single-subject cookbook, and the James Beard-nominated Pie Squared (Grand Central, 2018), as well as the forthcoming When Pies Fly (Grand Central, 2019). Barrow writes the “BRING IT” column in the Washington Post’s Food section.She has written for the New York TimesGarden and Gun, The Local PalateModern FarmerSaveurSouthern Living, NPR, and National Geographic, among others. She lives near Washington, DC with her husband and two terriers.
